Hello World, as it first appeared in The C Programming Language by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie, 1978 — the program that taught a generation of programmers what code looks like. Every "Hello, World" in every language since, in every tutorial, on every developer's first day, traces back to these few lines. The program itself is too short to be copyrightable; the cultural footprint is incalculable.
